E3P is seeking an experienced Principal Arboricultural Consultant to join our growing Manchester team.
You will manage varied projects, work directly with clients and support the continued development of our arboricultural service. We are looking for someone who shares our pragmatic, dynamic and progressive approach and can provide clear, commercially aware advice.
The role will be based from our Manchester office, with flexible working arrangements and travel across the UK to support a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, infrastructure and public-sector projects.
The successful individual will be able to:
- Deliver pragmatic, accurate arboricultural advice to clients.
- Undertake BS 5837 tree surveys and development-related arboricultural assessments independently and in line with current guidance.
- Independently produce arboricultural reports, including Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Arboricultural Method Statements, Tree Protection Plans, tree survey reports and tree risk management reports.
- Undertake professional tree inspections and provide clear, proportionate and commercially aware management recommendations.
- Carry out tree risk assessments using the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment methodology.
- Advise clients at all stages of the planning and development process.
- Manage arboricultural projects from initial enquiry through to completion, including budgets, programmes and client expectations.
- Work collaboratively with the wider E3P team and provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff members.
- Work alongside other disciplines within E3P to strengthen our multidisciplinary service offering.
- Review technical reports and support quality assurance across the arboriculture team.
- Prepare fee proposals, contribute to tenders and support business development activities.
- Represent the company at client meetings, networking events and industry events.
- Develop relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities for new work.
Qualifications and experience required include:
- Relevant undergraduate degree, higher qualification or equivalent professional qualification in arboriculture, forestry or a related discipline.
- Current Quantified Tree Risk Assessment registration.
- Current Professional Tree Inspection certificate.
- At least five years of professional arboricultural experience, including experience working within consultancy.
- Strong working knowledge of BS 5837, tree risk management and the UK planning system.
- Proven experience successfully managing and delivering arboricultural projects.
- Experience producing high-quality technical reports and arboricultural drawings.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to develop positive client relationships.
- Professional membership of the Arboricultural Association, Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body.
- Progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
